Parking Fine - Court Claim

Hi,

I'm new here.I came across some posts on here through a Google search and wondered if you could give me a little bit of advice please.

I was sent a parking fine letter, and I engaged Parking Fines Ltd to deal with the matter. They did so as I understand it and no letters continued to appear. Two months ago however it all resurfaced again.

I emailed him to let them know, and they said if I get a claim let them know. I received one a few weeks back and so did just that with a copy. I didn't hear further so emailed it to them again asking if they received my earlier email and thought no further of it.

Today I received a letter telling me that because I had not replied to the claim, I now needed to pay a sum of £260.

I emailed Parkign Fines Ltd again for advice and then did a quick Google. It seems like they hav now stopped trading.....without letting anyone know. As you can imagine this has left me in rather a hole in thinking they were dealing with it, but seemingly they are now not.

I didn't know quite where to turn and found some posts on here about County Court forms and thought I should put a post on here as you may be able to help in some small way as I feel out of my depth. A £100 fine (discounted to £60) has now turned into a much bigger sum.

You now have a default CCJ against you because nothing was returned to the court. Did you get a claim form from Northampton court?

Best pay it within 30 days so that your credit file is not marked for 3 years

How much did you pay Parking Fine Ltd? Depending on how you paid that i.e. Debit / Credit Card, you might be able to make a claim, but there are time limits to make a claim.

That is true, but OP paid them monies for the service, they 'stopped trading'.

If this is the firm...Parking Fines Ltd [Sheffield] was dissolved on the 8.June 2021 having traded for approximately a couple of years, from a two up, two down residential property, with the sole director being around 30 years of age...the company only ever filed one set of accounts and do not appear to have had much in the way of assets...We experienced a similar occurrence with a business matter where a company of 'so called' legal experts in our line of business, who were acting for us in a case and did not follow the correct procedure [forgot to file a defence] and out of the blue we received a CCJ... The people acting for us then settled the claim themselves due to being at fault, albeit I had an excellent defence, and went about trying and failing miserably in having the CCJ removed. After many months of back 'n' forth, we instructed a firm of solicitors who successfully had the Judgement set aside and the claim withdrawn. The downside was that it cost me £1500 in solicitors fee's, the upside was our reputation and good name was restored...Sad to say, but the stage your at, dealing with the court system is akin to spitting in the wind. My advise is, seek some legal advise, try a solicitor who may offer the initial hour free of charge, alternatively there's always the citizens advice people....good luck.

Thank you. This is my general thinking too. One to just mark down to experience.
