I recently got a Credit report from the Irish Credit Bureau and it is showing an outstanding debt with Cabot financial from 2003. i have traced the debt backed to a bank that confirmed the have written off and closed the debt in december 2014. I received a letter this morning from Cabot financial this morning and I contacted them. I had got a report from the credit bureau over a year ago and this debt wasn't shown.

How do i get this removed from my credit record? Do i have to pay cabot finanical. When i spoke to a customer service person in Uklster Bank last week he told me it was written off as far as they were concerned.

    Hi SFHAWKE7W

Have you checked your Credit report recently? It more then likely won't appear on there.

You shouldn't be speaking to them over the phone.

The debt has more then likely been bought by a third party (Cabot) and is more then likely 'statute barred', if you haven't acknowledged or made a payment in the last 6 year

    Removed CAB link.

I got a credit report from the CCR in Ireland about a week ago and it shows on that, I think the previous one I got was from the Irish credit bureau and it didn't show it
