Hi, I work in the NHS and am currently trying to have my job re-banded (i.e. paid at a higher level) as staff in other areas of the hospital that have a similar job title to me and role are paid more than I am. I have actually checked with my equivalents at other Hospitals who have the same job role and everyone is paid more than me. When I put forward a request for my job to be re-evaluated, I was told my banding was correct because "Others had clinical components to their jobs". I am a manager in the NHS who no longer has direct patient contact (I used to and am still registered) and neither do any of the others.
I am therefore trying to find a LEGAL definition of "Clinical" or "Clinical work" but while I have found dictionary text that supports my view, I don't see that I could quote them as being a definition in law.
Does anyone have any idea where I could look for the UK legal definition(s) please?
