  • Periodic Tenancy Agreement - Landlord disputing the notice period terms

    Hi All,

My landlord is disputing the terms of our tenancy agreement. We have given 1 month's notice to end our tenancy agreement, however according to the landlord, we are required to give 2 month's notice.

The contract was signed for a fixed term which ended a few months ago. As part of the contract, there is an addendum which states that the tenant must give 2 month's notice before leaving. However, it is also written in the contract itself, that when the fixed term ends, a new tenancy will arise and will become a "periodic tenancy" which runs from month to month and that the tenant can terminate the agreement by giving 1 month's notice.

As we have are now in the periodic tenancy, is the landlord correct that we still need to give 2 month's of notice?
