Hello,
I am looking for some advice on PPI claims companies charges.
My wife was miss-sold PPI and she used a well known claims company to make a claim.
The claim was successful and she was told that she had been awarded in excess of £2,700. The fees that she had to pay were 20% of the fee awarded, plus tax.
Then she was bombarded with letters and telephone calls telling her that she needed to pay the fees. But she hadn’t received the cheque at that point and didn’t for several weeks.
Eventually she received the cheque and a letter stating that she was getting in excess of £2,400 as the tax was being applied.
As the money received was less than she was initially informed of, she expected the fees to reduce but they didn’t.
The PPI claims company still want the original fees. Is this correct?
And surely she is paying two lots of tax?
Any advice would be gratefully received.
