  • Scaffolding on my Land

    Hello,
My neighbours are building a kitchen extension and we have given verbal permission for scaffolding to be placed in our garden.
Now the scaffolding is up it is much more invasive than we realised. Do we have any rights over how long it is up, can we get any compensation for it being on our land or have we given away any rights because we gave permission?

Having given open ended permission you can revoke it at anytime.

As you gave permission verbally presumably you rub along all right with your neighbours.
I would suggest you have a chat with them, and explain your surprise at the extent of the scaffolding, and enquire the length of time it will be required
Possibly the builders will be able to modify the scaffolding

      Thank you!

So just to clarify, if it stays up too long I can instruct them I no longer give them permission and they have to take it down?

I wouldn't wait to see. As Des suggests have a friendly chat. Much better than leaving it until possible confrontation.
