Hi .... I’ve just joined the forums and I’m really sorry to come here and just beg for help without offering anything on my first post, i do sincerley apologise but I am in a bit of a pickle and hope to contribute in the future.
My wife and I have just found a perfect house and have everything ready , deposit, offer accepted etc ... we had an agreement in principle but when the lender found out on a full credit search there was a CCJ attached to my credit file on one agency they have retracted the offer. This is related to something that happened in 2016, at an address i hadn’t lived at since 2011 but get this, the first name is totally different from mine. However , the last name is the same and somehow the DOB is the same. Experian and Equifax won’t report it and it doesn’t show up with them for obvious reasons. Transunion however are attaching it to my file. Needless to say i have nothing to do with this and its supposedly £4000. I requested Transunion do a file separation but they won’t do this. They told me to contact the court . The court have said as its not in my name, they can’t discuss it any further with me and go back to the CRA. I then wrote a complaint to Transunion and they said they were waiting for response from the registry land trust (RTL). I thought this was the creditor, so i contacted them but apparently they just hold a record of CCJs and they said they responded to Transunions request last month. I then went back to Transunion and they said they could pass it another team but its unlikely anything could be done. I am actually seething and shocked that something not in your name can be attached to your file in this way. i have never had problem with credit but not really needed it either - however i have had a Platinum Amex, £8000 Virgin CC, £3500 overdraft from my bank with no issues during this period so never had any reason to suspect this was lurking about.
It looks like we are going to loose our dream house, I’m just wondering if there’s anything else I can do , i have complained to Transunion and the ICO but these things take time. Also I’m so annoyed at Transunion I would like to pursue them after this especially if we loose the house any advice, thought or ideas are truly welcome. Thanks in advance.
