Hi I am here to help my high functioning autistic daughter fight a parking charge. She was parked outside a gallery for a short period to load up heavy equipment. She has received a charge of £100 reduced to £60 if she pays by 6th January. The charge letter refers to an incident which occurred more than 14 days before the letter was sent but she has been told that is irrelevant as she has admitted to being the driver.

She was parked outside the gallery on private land which she believes belongs to Argos (not sure how she has ascertained this). She was there for less than 20 minutes. She accepts she could have parked in a car park some distance away for which the charge was £2 per hour, but the equipment she was loading was heavy and she thought she was allowed to stop outside the gallery briefly. As an autistic person, she is very aware that she "must not break rules" so would not have wilfully done so (though I am not using this as an excuse). She did not receive a ticket on her windscreen. She received a charge notice over a month after the "offence". She has been in correspondence with the firm but they have told her to use the IAS appeal.
