Hi,
We have just been told that because we chose to defer our payment that we have to pay an ‘unlock’ fee of £360 to use our own chosen solicitors that we have already instructed. Obviously I am well aware this will be in the terms and conditions and they have us in a legal sense.
My query is the following - our estate agent had two opportunities to mention this rule, and in one instance actually recommended that we defer payment (even though we said that we can afford to pay up front) because of other bonuses that come with deferring. Do we have an argument of being missold this product? It was also not very clearly made out on the app when we chose to defer.
Serves me right for not reading the t&c I know, but it doesn’t sit right with me and it feels a very sneaky tactic.
Any thoughts?
Andy
