Hi,
I recently VT’d my car with Barclays Partner Finance.
I used a template from here and told them I wasn’t signing any paperwork they sent after many requests.
I eventually dropped my car off at Manheim and saw it sold the next day. The assessor and I never agreed on any damage. The car was in good condition for a 7 year old car. Just the odd stone chip here and there. They tried to hit me with poor repairs etc on parts of the car that have never been touched.
I phoned Barclays and asked for the inspection report. I eventually received this in the post a week later saying there was £1200 worth of damage!!
I phoned BPF straight away and said I disagreed with most of the damage in the report. The guy on the phone took a note of everything and escalated it to the correct team. He told me to phone back in 7-10 days which is around now.
However, today I have received a letter saying ‘Thank you for your recent payment, which was the final instalment of your loan. Assuming there are no returned payments from your bank, your loan with us is now settled. Please cancel any direct debits.’
I thought at first this was maybe an automatic letter sent to me but then remembered my loan wasn’t supposed to end until July next year.
The letter also has a section saying ‘Balance : £0’.
Does this mean I am in the clear and BPF won’t come after me.
Any help is greatly appreciated
