Long story short I want out of this course. My contract for my fix sum loan agreement says the costs are for £2160 of a 12 month basis. The cancellation period is 14 days which I’m now past (not by much but it doesn’t matter really does it).
After reading the reviews I just need to stop this course. I understand that I can cancel the course but obviously these people are going to make me repay the loan regardless. I would like to argued that I’ve been misled in terms of course content and was wondering if any of my points would help prevent the finance company from charging me for the loan.
Firstly on the phone with the advisor for the college he made it sound 10x better than the course actually is. I asked he numerous times where the training centres are based and he never gave me an explicit answer, I’ve now found out on my own accord that the nearest one is 2 hours away. Then there’s the textbook and CD they’ve given me. The textbook is riddled with spelling and grammar errors and contradictions which I think is pretty appalling.
On top of this which I think is the biggest point, my advisor said to me that the course I’m doing now will allow me to be a domestic electrical installer, and that they no longer do the ‘foundation’ course on its own because it’s useless. However I’ve found in one of the booklets they’ve given me that to actually achieve the Level 2 Domestic Installers qualification I need to complete a second part of the course which requires more funding. Essentially I’ve been told that after the first section of the course is complete I’ll be able to undertake electrical jobs in domestic premises. What are my options here before I get any deeper into this mess? I’ve been doing the course for less than a month and have read some horror stories about people being charged £7000+ when they’ve tried to cancel.
