  • Dealing with a in default loan on credit score from Hoist

    Hi

I was just looking for some advice. I made a very dumb decision at the age of 18 to finance a car WAY out of my budget resulting in me not being able to afford the car. I had bailiffs come and take the car from me. The finance was through Barclays. This was back in 2016.

I had letters from Barclays regarding the outstanding debt of around £16,000, I contacted them multiple times with them stating they couldn’t find any of my details? I then left it for a few months to a year. I then received a letter through my door from Robinson Way asking to pay the debt Since Barclays stating they couldn’t find any details, I again left it. I have not received any letters since that one back in say 2018?

I since received emails from them stating there’s ways to pay etc etc but no letters and no correspondence from Barclays. My credit score shows an in default loan with hoist which was opened 16th November 2016 and last updated 18th February 2020. I received an email in feb from Robinson way asking me to go to my online account to give an offer.

I have had no communication with Robinson Way and told by someone previously that since Barclays had no trace of my information when I called to discuss to not send any further correspondence which is what I have done but am seemingly more concerned that this isn’t the correct thing to do?

    can anyone please advise?
