  • Accidental shop lifting

Hi. Please help... I’ve just been to Asda to do my shopping with the kids. My youngest was screaming and I was feeling harassed and side tracked, picked up a birthday candle and while trying to passify my youngest child without thinking put the candle on my pocket! I got to the checkout and was paying for my shopping when the manager pulled me to the side away from my kids and asked what I had in my pocket, obviously I then realised I’d put it in my pocket and handed it to her, she told me I was banned from the store and if I was to go there again they would call the police’. They didn’t take my name or anything like that, but o was waiting my work uniform due to going shopping straight from work and now I’m in a real state worrying that they might right my work and tell them! (I work for a HUGE) company with 1000’s of employees.
are they legally aloud to tell my employer that someone from the company did that?
It was completely in error but I doubt they believe me

    thanks
