  • US Election bet - any help greatly appreciated!

    Hi there,

I placed bets on Donald Trump to win the US election based on his campaign looking stronger in my opinion. At the time of writing, it looks like he's going to lose, but is alleging mass voter fraud.

I expect soon the media will announce for his opponent. It is my understanding after speaking with SkyBet that at this point, my bet will be settled as a loss.

I explained that there's a possibility the result could be disputed and overturned. In this scenario, I would have betted on the correct outcome.

But the response was that according to their T&C's, it's settled when it's announced, and that's that.

Feels a little unfair - is there anything that I can do?

Any help is very much appreciated. Mark

Exactly anyone who takes a chance with that lot of idiots deserves everything they get. Trump because of his childish antics should be subject to having all his business dealings investigated.

I put a tenner on Trump. I didn't realise that the dead would rise from the grave to vote though. T&Cs rule though... an official declaration of the winner is end of story. My advice don't gamble... I did win around a grand 4 years ago but with the voting changes, tenner seemed a wise bet this time around.

I think a tenner was a good bet for the entertainment value it has given you - 2 days of fun! Never gamble what you cannot afford to lose...

Good that means your bet is still valid, the media DON'T confirm an election despite what they want you to believe. Until the electoral college declare a winner your bets still stands.

This is not a point of view this is fact.

"Many people assume the winner of the U.S. presidential contest is determined once the media calls the race and the losing candidate delivers a concession speech. But the truth is that formally declaring a presidential winner is a months-long process that won’t be completed until January.

That process essentially involves Americans voting for electors, the electors voting for the president, and then Congress declaring the winner.
                  "

That's not quite right. The individual states publish the results in real time as they're counted and the media project the overall results based on a combination of the published results together with a mathamatical projection of the uncounted ballots. The rest of the process is just a formality.

It is quite right, its the law.

"Under the U.S. Constitution the president and vice president are chosen by electors, under a constitutional grant of authority delegated to the legislatures of the several states"

                      Stop watching Main stream media.

Nothing to do with the media, formality or not its the actual process, remember President Al Gore? that's right you don't because he wasn't but the media at the time pushed him as such.

The networks originally called it for Bush (that's why Gore conceded at first) and with the legal challenges and recounts they were ultimately proved right.

My point was that the media as here have no legal power / right to call any election. The law on how it works is clear.

That Washington Times headline has been widely reported as being fake, including the paper itself.
