I have recently received a notice of claim from court by Cabot Financial claiming that I owe around 4K of credit card debt and that they purchased the debt earlier this year. Debt collector companies and criminal. I also do not recall getting a notification of assignment letter from this company to notify me that they are chasing me.
I clearly want to dispute this claim as I have never had a contract with CF however when I dispute the claim and respond to the simple procedure notification what evidence or grounds should I state? Also, it asks whether I have tried to come to arrangement with the company themselves however I do not wish to contact them as I believe they try to talk you into admitting the debt and agreeing to payment via underhand tactics.
What is the best way to proceed?
