Forex Trader - Investment on behalf of a friend.

Hi

I was initally invested with a trader which was going well. I then mentioned this to a few friends on how well it was going and they wants to be part of the same thing but wanted me to manage it as they didnt want to deal with the trader. As a favour I decided to help them out. The forex trader has now lost all the money due to volatility in the markets. The friend is now holding me responsible for it and says i need to pay them for the their investment.

They feel i'm responsible for the situation and are now treathening with Civil action. The was a max potential loss on the investment and this is what they want.

Would they have a case with the police ? or even civil action ?
