  • Student tenancy question

    Hi all,

I was originally planning on doing my masters in Liverpool with two friends, so we signed for a house for the current academic year last November time. However, the covid situation has made it impossible for me to do this so I instead decided to do my masters in my home city. I found someone to replace my tenancy on the contract, this person is eager to get the house officially signed over. However, one of my friends who is meant to be living at the house lives in Jersey and is currently unable to get to Liverpool and sign the tenancy again. Because of this, the property company are refusing to allow the person I have found to get the tenancy signed over to him, this is an issue as I don't have the money to pay rent for the room. My question is, would there be anyway to get this done remotely? I've read online about people getting solicitors to witness and stamp guarantor forms, is this possible?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Kind regards,
    Tom

It may well be worth asking the property company if they have such a document for this situation. If they do they can send it to your friend in Jersey to take to a solicitor who can witness the signature. There may be a charge by the solicitor but it should not be too much.
