  • Fixed penalty service notice in poundland served today. Please advise!

    Hi

I am truly utterly mortified. I stupidly stole two items from poundland. I dont know what i was thinking. my anxiety is really all over the place and I have a number of health conditions. Anyway I was rightly caught. The police were called and the police gave me a fixed penalty notice and a ban from the store. They said it wouldn't affect my work with children but I am so worried it will actually as I am on the DBS update service. I feel like vomiting and haven't stopped crying since I got home I just want to pay it and move on but I would be destroyed if I lost the career of my dreams over a moment of madness.

It is most unlikely that even an enhanced DBS check will throw up a single fixed penalty notice,

    Good luck

Hi posting for my friend, the original author of this post. She was so shaken up and stressed. She remembers the police verbally cautioned her but they didn't make her sign any paperwork in relation to a caution. Does this mean she's not got a caution on her record as all she was made to sign was the banning notice from poundland and the fixed penalty notice, and will she get an rlp letter in view of her paying the fine?

the policeman said to her there would be no criminal record but she is understandably panicking so much over this. She loves childcare so much and has been through a lot in order to finally get a job of her dreams as she works as a senco in a nursery

As normal on here why should she be paying RLP ? If she has already paid the police penalty why should she pay RLP for the same matter? RLP can't issue fines

Unless regulations have changed, or I remember incorrectly, a criminal conviction does not automatically bar anyone from working with children. Child abuse is an obvious exception. The employers, governors consider whether or not the offence would affect suitability and then decide.

Thank you. She's still not sure if it's a official caution she even received due to the officer saying if she pays the fine she should be okay and no criminal conduct will be recorded and she had no cautionary paperwork. Her boss isn't the most understanding either

If she received and signed for a Fixed Penalty Notice she must pay it.
Technically it is not a criminal conviction if she pays it on time.
However the police will have a record of it, but the chances of it being flagged on her enhanced DBS check are remote.

If she hears from a civil recovery company she should ignore the letters and not engage with them

Thank you she is going to pay it on Thursday as that is when she will have the money. Just trying to calm her down
