Hi, I am full time carer for my mum. I live with her and we both have an equal share of the house as tenants in common. Mum has several health issues and I get very anxious about her health and also I worry about what would happen to her share if she needs full time care or passes away.
I asked the solicitor who did the conveyancing to register the ownership as tenants in common, was this a mistake? In the future will I have to sell the house to pay for care? Also, mum has no Will so as I understand my 3 siblings will inherit her half share if she decides not to write one. My brother has hinted but causued her to get very upset. The other option is we both agree to change the ownership to joint tenants, but I beleive I could lose my share if mum is assessed for long term care as they would assess 100% of the value, am I right or have I misunderstood?
Thanks in advance.
