Hello, I've just joined LegalBeagles in the hope that I might find some help with a very dishonourable roofer. It's reasonably complicated (as ever!). Basically I need to pursue a claim against him for shoddy work, damage to my property through replacing an old but watertight roof with one that leaks (penetrating the lighting circuit and causing a growing crack in the ceiling around the light fitting). Also - not finishing the job he was paid for (guttering aspects of the job), not honouring the 20 year Guarantee he sold me so glowingly when he first quoted, and constanttly lying and / or making excuses for not coming to rectify any of this. The string of excuses is bewildering, and when I speak to him he just promises to come on another day at another time and never turns up. This has been going on since last November. I don't see why he should get away with it and I'm £3000 down. It's incredibly time-consuming and frustrating. I'm thinking small claims / trading standards / official letter? Any advice, guidance would be much appreciated. Thanks!
