  • High Court Enforcement Group recovering PPI Fee

    Hi there,
I’ve had a letter through today from the High Court Enforcement Group in respect of Allay Claims PPI I failed to pay for £470.

Is there any advice as to how to progress with this, as it wasn’t a credit agreement or loan etc. Will they take me to court? Any info very much appreciated.

    Thank you so much.

As the sum is below £600 I would suggest that they are acting as mere debt collectors and using the name to instil fear

I’m hoping they’re not going to come to my home due to covid restrictions and I’m also hoping Court appearances for small sums are being delayed at the moment.

They are debt collectors and do not own the debt and can do nothing other than write threatening letters. If the do dare turn up you can tell them where to go and not come back.

If Allay are going to take it to court then you will get plenty of notice from the courts first and give your defence and only then will you get to choose which court to use. Many, many months away, if at all

As suggested look at the threads about Allay on the forum.

I have sent this to someone else as this is what DCBL used to do - they now make it plain they are only acting as Debt Collectors and not HCEOs.

Hi there, high court enforcement have turned up at my house today. Asking for me. I wasn’t home but my husband was. He passed him a letter to give to me. Any advice on what I should do? Thank you so much.

Let's have a look at the letter then - redact personal details.

My view is the same as before in that they are acting purely as Debt Collectors. I assume you never had notification they were coming - just a knock on the door. To be on the safe side though you should check your credit file to see what is on it.

Thank you, no I hadn’t had any notification they were coming. I’ve had no contact from them since the last correspondence in September. Nothing on my credit file.
He just had a good look at the car apparently and asked for me but wouldn’t confirm who he was. Then passed my husband the letter. We only knew who he was actually representing when I got back home and opened the letter.

They are a bit naughty doing it like this - making themselves appear to be something they are not. Even more disconcerting if Allay have not even commenced the journey to Court - but there are a few other threads on here about this.
