  • Summoned to court because of friends dog bit her neighbour.

I was washing up after having dinner at my friends house, her dog was in the garden. My friend went into her garden, I then heard her shouting her dog got into next doors garden. I went into the garden and heard shrieking from next door. Thinking my friends dog and her neighbour's dog was fighting, I went next door to help. But my friends dog had hold of her neighbour's arm and she was badly bitten.
My friend has been summoned to court for owning or being in charge of a dangerous dog. But I've also been summoned to court for the same charge.
Also strange thing is my address on the summons is her address not mine, and went to her address.
The policeman said to my friend and I, he was trying to keep it out of court. But obviously someone decided to press charges.
I am 63 and not working at the moment, due to bad arthritis. I am claiming job seekers allowance. My friend is working but on low pay.
Is there anywhere I can get help and advice? especially during this covid panic?
    Thanks in adance.
