Long story short, my estranged Mum died 4 years ago and earlier this year, I found out after a ‘heir hunter’ found me
Appears she had some pennies which are being kept my the governments bona vicantia dept.
They’ve verified my identity and my claim but they want a Letter of Administration to release this money
No inheritance tax to pay, she had no assets and bills/funeral expenses were paid at the time of her death so I thought it would be a relatively straightforward job for them.
i sent my forms off to HMRC to Harlow address as per forms and it’s now 14 weeks and despite 2 emails to them, I’m getting no response
Has anyone been through similar, is there a way I can escalate?feel like I’m up against a brick wall with nowhere to turn.
