  • Adjournment of a Court Hearing Covid

I just wanted to ask peoples opinion. Is this an unreasonable request-and do you think it is acceptable grounds to grant an adjournment?

I have a trial coming up in January 2021. This is a 3-day Multi-Track trial. The hearing is in the UK I live in Spain. I would need to travel to the hearing, which is difficult as I have severe asthma and would obviously need to fly, and also self isolate for 2 weeks (I have no idea where, as I have no relatives in the area)

Do you think this would warrant me applying for an adjournment of proceedings?

    Thank you for your response.

The answer is we dont know. The Courts have been doing things willynilly, some Courts will allow an adjournment, some wont. What id advise is that you write to your opponent and invite them to consent to your proposals. That may at least give you a better chance of the Court agreeing, if the other side dont object etc.
