  • Audi Paintwork/Warranty

    Hi,

My Audi A5 Cabriolet bought from new in 2017 developed white spots on some of the trim around the windows and windscreen in an around 2018. I approached the dealer and Audi UK for this to be repaired under warranty. They both told me it was due to me using a car wash and there was a reaction with the products they use. I have used this same car wash for all of the 8 A4/A5 Cabriolets I have owned and this is the first time I have seen this issue. I have also read that it could be caused by screen wash, which could make sense as the damage is not on the back of the car where there is the same type of finish.

They have tried to charge me £2000 to have it replace, but I think this should be warranty work, as they cannot prove how this defect occurred and there are numerous reports from Audi owners with the same issue. Some say they have had it repaired under warranty and some say the same as me.

My car is approaching 3 years old and I wish to change it to get yet another Audi, but think they may hit bring the defects into question and wish to charge me for it.

    Any advice?
