  • 1st time executor

    HELLO!
I've been made executor (along with my husband) of my brothers estate. He lived in a council flat and didn't have much money but he was a colletor and left items to some of his friends.
I'm hoping to get a bit of advice on probate, and letter templates.

Firstly you might not need to obtain a grant of probate.
The will gives you the authority to settle the estate. The grant is merely confirmation.

If there is no real property (land/buildings) involved nor stocks and shares, and the value of the estate is small you may be able to settle te estate without a grant.

A good description of your duties can be found here https://www.thegazette.co.uk/wills-a...content/103429
Some of it will not apply in your case
