  • Can I get my deposit refunded.

    Hi
My wife and I went to view a Motorhome at a dealers yesterday. We’ve been looking for one for a while and after a hour or so looking at one in a dealership, we left a deposit. I left my work and bank details with the salesman in order to process a finance application, but I’m having second thoughts due to the amount we’d need to finance and the likely rates.

I’ve not signed any documentation and I paid the deposit on my credit card.

Am I entitled to my deposit back? I’ve not spoken to the dealer and they may just refund the deposit without any issues, but I’d like to cover all bases. I know that I could try and seek redress from my credit card company but again, I’d like to know where I stand

    Thanks for any advice

When you give a car/motorhome dealer a deposit, it is considered an upfront or initial payment on a vehicle. As a rule, it is not refundable unless specific circumstances apply.
A different story regarding finance, you have 14 days to cancel.
