  • Waters and Gate Debt Collector

    Can anyone please help.

I had a traffic offence in Pisa Italy where apparently I went into a restricted area.

I did not pay the fine and now Waters and Gate are sending very treating letters / emails / phones / text to say that if I do not settle the matter I will b taken to court and will have a negative impact on my credit rating. I cannot afford the large amount they are asking for.

What powers do w&G have to force this issue ?

As you didn't pay the fine (nor challenged it) it has probably been doubled.
Unfortunately for the Italian authorities they have no way of enforcing the fine whilst you are in the UK, other than send round debt collectors.
    You can ignore them.
If you ever return to Italy however you might find yourself stopped at entry point. I don't think Italy has arrangements with other EU countries to enforce their fines but you might like to check with the experts at Pepipoo ( http://forums.pepipoo.com/)

Isn't that how debt collectors work?
