My daughter recently advertised he car for sale on Ebay. She failed to cover up the plates and subsequently they were cloned and someone in London (she lives in the West Country) got 2 parking tickets and was also involved in an accident.
As a result of the accident she was asked to provide details of the driver. She obviously didn't know the details so didn't return the form.
She has subsequently been summonsed to court for that offence. I've told her that she is guilty as she has failed to return the form.
She suffers from Dyspraxia which means she doesn't always deal properly with things when they appear too difficult to do.
i have contacted the Met to explain and tried to explain the circumstances and also that i can't believe this is in the public interest. They have said that as it has already gone to summons there is nothing they can do. In the court papers are details of injuries to the person who was knocked off their bike which concerns me. that is irrelevant to the case she has been summonsed for and a magistrate may take a dim view of things as someone was hurt.
Is there any value in trying to contact someone to get it withdrawn?
Failing that can we get the case transferred to a local court?
Is she better off just pleading guilty and fully explaining the circumstances in mitigation?
thanks in advance
Tim
