  • Lowell Solicitors & Talk Talk

    Hi,

My names Mo. I really need help dealing with Lowell solicitors.

I could not Really relate to any other posts on other threads due to the situation being very different.

We've just received a letter titled 'Important update - action required' from Lowell solicitors.

Its regarding a debt owed to Talk Talk which i believe is from over 2 years ago. The original debt was around £70 but Lowell is asking for £300.

We left Talk Talk broadband to move to Sky due to them not providing the service they promised. Phone line had continuous problems and the broadband would go bad regularly every single day - we just had enough after contacting them all the time and left. I gave them this in writing over 2 years ago and never looked back since. I did receive the occasional letters from Talk Talk over the 2 years but never thought much of it. But now they've decided to pursue this.

I just wanted to know how i can counter this. The debt is in my mothers name and she has moved abroad. She does come to the UK every few months and anything harming her credit like a CCJ wouldn't be good (she prefers a clean sheet).

I don't know how to proceed. Should i contact Lowell Solicitors asking for more information and even admit to this?

Can i get this debt cancelled in any way?

Really hope you guys can help me.

If they are trying to contact your mother then give them her address abroad.Â* It is out of the jurisdiction of the UK courts and may just persuade them to give up.Â* To take action against someone abroad is not impossible but is difficult and expensive for them.Â* Even if they raise a claim in the UK then the response would be tick the out of jurisdiction box on the form
