  • Stolen trust fund

My sister is a trustee of a trust belonging to myself and two brothers, we have discovered that she has spent the money, the police are not interested and say it’s a civil matter. Any suggestions would be gratefully received.

Complain to higher grade officers if police are refusing to investigate.
Misappropriation of trust funds is a matter under which civil action can be taken, but it may also be considered a criminal matter.
It all depends on the circumstances!
This must have been an open and shut case:**https://sasdaniels.co.uk/blog/2013/0...led-for-theft/

I concur, it hinges on the circumstances but based on the OP's limited account this sounds like suspected theft and/or fraud and should be a police matter.

It also sounds as though the OP might have reported it to someone not totally aux fait with this area of law so may have been mislead in error.

Every force has a complaints department and published procedures on how to contact them on their website, which I suggest is the preferred route in the first instance.
