  • Housing benefit stop notice caused overpayment

Moved onto UC on 25th September 2019,UC send stop notice to HB on 3rd October 2019. I pay rent from UC payments. At end of January 2020 I received a rent statement and discover that HB payments were still being made. DWP insist they sent the stop notice and LA insist that they did not receive it. I had no way of knowing that this had happened between the two agency but the results have been a £700+ Council tax bill for the period of time that I had to pay immediately and a demand for the four payments made by HB after the stop notice had been sent. Any help or advice welcome*
