    Hi everyone,
I am writing in a terrible sense of panic. I am absolutely devastated. This morning I have logged onto my Experian account to see a massive reduction in my credit score. A default of £37 has been added for a debt I knew nothing about. It’s from BT and it’s from 2015. I have no recollection of this debt and I’ve certainly never been written to. I don’t even have an active account with BT on my credit file. I’ve worked tirelessly for the last 8 years since my wife and I split up to get my credit on point and am in the middle of a mortgage application and my score has gone from 896 to 451! This will certainly stop my mortgage going through. It’s Sunday so I can’t call anyone and my first thought was you! So, I’m pleading for so advice. I do not have an active account with BT. BT are not on my credit file with any missed payments. I haven’t had any letters from them. Experian says the account was in 2015 which may be feasible but I cleared everything I’m certain. I’ve emailed Experian to ask them to look at this. Does anyone have any advice. I don’t think I can cope with this on my file for 6 years. Can anyone please help.*

So I’ve been across 3 cra’s. It’s only logged on Experian. On trans union BT is shown as being closed with no missed payments. Two separate accounts that is in line with what I believe. Could this be an error?

Update for those who may be able to help. Spoke to BT and it goes like this. The debt is from a September 2019 bill. They couldn’t tell me how much the bill was because there was a System error so the bill was never sent out. The lady confirmed that in July 2019 I called to request my BT sport be disconnected. This happened in August when my account was 96p in credit. A final bill was sent out on 5th September which was 0.96p credit. The rest is now a mystery. Technically I was not in contract with them so the bill must be invalid. All my accounts are showing as closed and zero balance. However; this one mystery September bill is the root cause. I’ve raised a dispute with Experian and they’ll link with BT. If anyone has any POSITIVE advice I would be grateful.*
