I'm looking at purchasing a property. The property has a couple of acres to the rear. This land belongs to the property.* There is a ROW right across the middle which is on OS maps. On earlier map Victorian it was not there. Rather than it going through the middle of the property is it possible to get it re routed to the edge?* Obviously if I let my dogs out for instance I can't secure them in. I have not progressed as far as searches with this property as this is the bogey so to speak.* On previous OS maps there was not a right of way.* The land is 2 acres and its bang through the middle of it.* I'm not sure regards law on Public Right of way through private land.*

You will need to have a chat with the council rights of way officer. Under Crow 2000 you will need to apply for and receive a diversion order, for which you be charged, there are also legal requirements about posting notices and ads in the local paper. It can certainly be done. The footpath officer may have a copy of the definitive map, although the one in Cambridge told me that the OS map is used. However, our council has a CAPITA infestation so I'm not sure if he knew what he was talking about of just trying to avoid work.
