  • New trades career have me trapped

I signed up to a college I found on Facebook after an having two meetings with a man who was sent round my house. The first visit he told me the basics of the electrical course and told how there were limited spaces on the course and how we would have to hurry if I wanted a spot. The second visit he showed me more about the course and all seemed good. He whipped out a contract and explained some things to me. When I went to read the terms and conditions I was told I didn’t need to because all had been explained and we didn’t have time for that. He did a affordability check where he told me not to include certain things.everything was going well until recently I found out that he had withheld a lot of information from me. I was under the impression that I could cancel the course should I not be able to afford it. However in the t and cs it states you have 2 weeks before you are locked into it. Also I was told that the time the course took would be down to me however in the t and c it states 36 months is the max time. There are many other things wrong with this course and I need help. I can no longer affford the £180 a month and have written to them explaining this. They replied with a letter basically telling me that I cannot end the payments unless I settle the current £4700 debt this is effecting my mental health and I need advice and can provide more info on request.

I’m having no luck on this one at the moment, I’m in touch with hallmark solicitors but I’m going to seek others who can help most with our case. I think we all need to come together and make a claim with the same solicitors to make our case stronger as it looks like we are going to really struggle on our own, will anyone join me in the case to get us all cancelled? I’m prepared to take this on? Please message me

Hello Joh Car, have you by any chance been able to resolve this issue as I am having similar problems. Just doing research on how to get out of the contract and found this forum. Let me know how you have progressed so far. Cheers!
