  • Returning second hand car on hp voluntary termination

Just looking for some advice. I have a second hand car that I have on hp I want to give it back as I don’t need the car anymore. I contacted the finance company and they said I need to pay up to the half way point to activate my right to voluntary terminate. This I have done and they have received a letter from myself wishing to terminate.
after giving them the dates for last mot and service they asked me if I had the v5 and two keys etc then they asked if anything mechanical was wrong with the car. There isn’t anything wrong with the car however when I bought it there where some scuffs on 2 of the panels when I bought the car. I explained this to them and asked if I would be charged for this as they came with the car. She said she didn’t know and to just explain it to the auction people when they pick up the car and we do a walk round of it. My question is if they do try and charge me for the scratches where do I stand if I don’t pay? They are longer then what’s defined in the wear and tear guide but I don’t think it’s fair that I have to pay for the previous owners. I don’t have any proof that they were there when. Bought the car either.

the next step is for me to wait for the auction people to collect my car. Is there any advice for when they do this. Do I have to sign anything when they do?

    thanks!
