Hawthorn bush

Afternoon all,

I wonder if someone call help me with the issue of said bush on my property. When I bought my present house in 2007, I was told by the previous owner that the Hawthorn tree and bush that mark the outer front boundary of the property are protected and that it is not possible to remove them. As my family has grown since then, I would like to extend the area available for parking. I would keep the tree but would like to remove the bush. It is around 10 feet long and without it there would be space for two cars. Does anybody know who I need to contact for permission or otherwise.

Thanks for the reply. I did send an email to my council a couple of years ago but received no reply. I re-sent and still didn't get a reply. I'll try it again

Thanks for your replies. I did receive a reply to my email from the Borough Council this morning as below.

I take it that this means a can remove the hedge

There are no Tree Preservation Orders registered to your property, nor are you within a Conservation Area

Yes, although you should not remove any hedge until August to avoid disturbing nesting birds. If you need to do so earlier, check very carefully for nests and do not proceed if you spot any nests.
