Hi*
I have just received notification from British Gas via the ombudsman that they have overcharged me £16,000!! Whilst this is staggering, they have default notices still registered against me. I do owe them some money but could not pay that amount as I knew it was incorrect. My question is, if the default notice was incorrect - does this still stannd? Thank you*

That's a huge error! It is unlikely any of their billing has been correct so highly likely incorrect data has been recorded against your credit file. Now you have the Ombudsmans decision, you should challenge British Gas to issue correct billing and remove any negative reporting. Depending on circumstances, you could be entitled to compensation.*
