  • Child law and custody

My ex was emotionally abusive throughout our relationship as were his family. He has not seen his son since he was born and dropped him on his head when he did see him immediately after birth. He would throw tantrums, lie to me, sit in the road and refuse to get up. After I gave birth he refused to let me sleep and guilted me everytime I tried to leave him. His barrage of message caused me to break down after labour.*
I offered him*contact with our son but he didn'ttake me up on it and then he disappeared for 6 weeks. Our son is now four months and my ex has got in touch saying he wants to see but has to think of he wants proper contact or not. I have been told that I have to hand over our child regardless of everything that has happened? Is this right?
