I have come to the decision to voluntarily terminate my finance agreement on my VW Tiguan, I have payed an amount to reach the 50% mark and have filled in a basic form sent by VWFS detailing my name, agreement number and reg along with agreeing that the vehicle is currently insured, taxed and MOT’d. However in the termination pack they have sent me, it says due to Covid - 19 BCA are not currently able to collect cars and will be unable to until the government advice says they can. It then goes on to say that I must: Not drive the vehicle because it will be uninsured (which I am fine with), keep the vehicle locked safe and secure preferably on private land, if the vehicle is stolen or damaged by fire to notify them and the police and get a crime reference number and keep the vehicle taxed.
My understanding is that now I have committed to the voluntary termination, I am no longer liable for the car, so do I have to keep my insurance and tax going or can I cancel them, as I am losing money everyday it sits there not knowing when they might come and collect it.
Thanks for any help
Rhys
