  • HMO unlicensed property not a habitable home.

I moved into a property 1 month ago and did not notice mold, I feel very unwell there and the property is not cleaned well. I have been informed that alot of mold was painted over and not treated or clean by the other tenants, who also say they feel the property is unhealthy. there are also not enough bathroom or toilet facilities, 1 toilet to 6 people/strangers sharing kitchen and bathroom. This property is a HMO but not registered with local authority, I have told the landlord I want to move for health reasons, but he said he wants me to honour my 6 month contract. I would like an environmental health officer to inspect the property to establish that it is a hazard. Do I have to stay there if the HMO has not been licensed? I do not wish to claim my rent back, I just want to give 1 months notice and move out.
