  • Car finance

I agreed to take out car finance for a friend under certain terms and conditions. I.e 2 year finance. I then filled in a form to see if the finance would be accepted. At this point I hadn't seen any paperwork. Shortly afterwards my friend told me that the finance had been accepted based on my credit score. I then told them that I would like to see all the paperwork so that I can go through it. When I saw the paperwork the terms that I was comfortable agreeing on had changed such as the finance duration which was now at 48months. I said to my friend that I was not happy with this and we should not go through with the finance. At this point they said the finance had already gone through and the car ordered.

I asked how this was possible when I had not signed anything. They said that they signed it on my behalf electronically.

I am now wondering what I can do to cancel both the finance and car as I have not signed anything myself or taken delivery of the car.

I also don't want to get my friend into trouble for signing on my behalf but do not want this finance deal.

Unfortunately, you agreed to it and the only way is for you to inform the dealer that the agreement was not signed by you but your friend and you didnt authorise it.

Paperwork should have been sent to you directly and your friend has been naughty in signing it without your consent, possibility of fraud in doing so.

Either write to them and arrange for it to be cancelled or doing and it goes on your credit file. The majority of these types of arrangements don't end very well it the only loser is you. If your friend cant get finance for that car, there is likely a good reason for it.
If you have a question about the voluntary termination process, please read this guide first, as it should have all the answers you need. Please do not hijack another person's thread as I will not respond to you

And if the finance house weren't aware you were taking out car finance for your friend it is known as an Accommodation Deal, and is considered fraudulent,
so be careful what you say to the financiers
