Can someone explain what the following means, please

"Thank you for your correspondence. We apologise for the delay in responding to you. As no further action has been taken during this period we trust you agree no prejudice has been suffered as a result."

It's taken Gladstones 6 week to reply to a challenge to a parking notice.
