  • Penalty fare statute barrred?

I received a letter from IRCAS yesterday, 14/5/20 relating to an unpaid penalty fare from Jan 2014 !!

It relates to a journey on the DLR (docklands light railway) in 2014 where i gave my details but never received anything in the post.

I have never received any correspondence at all from the train company until now.

Its a letter of intended prosecution and says pay the £110 (includes charges etc) within 14 days or they will commence legal proceedings.

I think penalty fares are civil debts and so leads me to think its statute barred. Is that right?

    Any help is much appeciated.
