  • Notice of (possible) Intended Prosecution - allegation made how to respond?

Hi, a friend received this, sounds like someone has some dash cam footage of alleged incident considering the time, and complained.

What's the best way to answer this request?

It's asking for his version of events yet he doesn't recall any particular events, he does overtake a lot but there are no CCTV cameras and this will be going off the dash cam/other driver. Many thanks.

All that form requests is the name and address of the driver at the time of the alleged incident.
The registered keeper of a vehicle has a legal obligation to provide details of who was driving at the time of an alleged motoring offence. Failing to provide the drivers identity carries*6 penalty points*on their licence and*up to £1000 fine.
So the best way to answer the request is to supply the details

Thank you, that's what I was thinking, provide details only and to just ignore the request for his version of events as nothing has been discussed, no details known so it's down to them to supply the evidence right? They are fishing?

Correct, don't respond to the allegation until full details are available.

If he cannot recall the incident he needs to know more about it
