Hi , I really need some help.I've had a car on finance now for 2 years .shortly after purchase I had the dealer fix a blown head gasket twice in about a week .next couple of months I had an oil leak fixed and a new drive belt fitted.2 years into contract and less than 10000 miles driven and the car is no longer running due to no compression, blown gasket...I have paid more than half the agreement on HP....if I vt the car ,could they charge me more than the amount left on the agreement.or is there a way possible to avoid incurring any more charges by handing it back. I have messaged the dealership but they are refusing to respond .I have explained my situation to blackhorse finance and they just sent a vt pack in the post ..the repair bill is quoted over a 1000 pounds .I have about a 1000 pounds left to pay on agreement...any help on where I stand would be much appreciated thankyou.

Rather vting the vehicle, have you considered rejecting it as unsatisfactory?
Gaskets shouldn't fail that quickly and the fact you already* had 2 go in quick succession points to a hidden problem that was possibly present when vehicle purchased.
You will probably need to get an auto engineers report.

Certainly could trying to reject the vehicle but as Des said, you'll need some evidence to back it up and an engineers report might assist but will obviously come at your expense until you can recover it. Engineer would have take into account the relevant facts such as the number of miles driven in two years, defects at the time of taking control over the car.
When you say you only have £1,000 to pay is that the rental payments only? What about the balloon payment at the end, have you factored that in?
Also, what was the mileage of the car when you first got it, as that may play a factor.

It's HP blackhorse finance .no balloon payment.the mileage when purchased was 54000 miles the current mileage is 64000 miles....I'm not sure I could even prove the problem was there when purchased because of the kind of problem it is........the invoice I have from the mechanic says 'no compression found in cylinder 1'he said over the phone that the gasket may have caused it and damaged the pistons.the car is no longer starting...if it was the gasket .the only proof I have is an email I sent 4 days after purchase about a strong smell of oil and could they look at it.they looked at it told me it was the gasket .had the car a week and sorted it few days later the gasket popped again apparently but didn't take as long this time to rectify .I didn't recieve an invoice for this work as I wasn't paying so they didn't provide one .few months down the line I paid to have a heavy oil leak fixed and a new drive belt fitted.the dealership have also done the last 3 M.O.Ts with no advisaries.the car had given no warning signs since.no warning lights or sluggish performance .it just didn't start one day..I'm now 2 years into the agreement .I've paid more than half the amount........but think I might just have to bite the bullet and carry on paying for car I can't drive then scrap it when it's mine.

Today I sent the dealership an email stating I'm seeking to return the car to them under the consumer credits act 2015 (unsatisfactory quality)and looking for a full refund......they rang straight away I spoke to them for 5 mins and they have agreed to look at the car in a few days to see if they can help.....didn't expect them to so a nice surprise that.

Dealer has taken the car today to look at it and give me a 2nd opinion on the damage .he said he's not really obliged to do this but he likes to keep his customers happy so he's agreed to at least look at it....he also notified the finance company of what he was doing...so worst case scenario...I get the car back in the same condition pay for it and scrap it.....best case scenario would be that he manages to fix it and it doesn't cost the 1000 pound plus I was quoted in the first place from an different mechanic.
