  • Voluntary Termination - damages

    Hi All,

I have initiated VT with Santander Consumer Finance this today. Surprisingly (considering current circumstances within the country) I had a message from them this morning acknowledging termination and advising that the vehicle recovery company will be in touch shortly.

Now the vehicle is in reasonable condition, with few stone chips, slight flaking on one alloy, but nothing too major and I can’t see them finding any damages. However, when I purchased the car, it had a dent on the roof, just above the windscreen. As far as I know, any damage to the vehicle roof is not acceptable under BVRLA guidelines. At the point of purchase of the vehicle, I had no intentions to exercise my rights to VT it, hence why I’ve not taken any pictures as evidence that the damage has been there at the point of purchase.

Where do I stand on this? I guess that I will have to repair it or be charged for the damages?

    Thank you in advance

Ask them to prove the damage was not there when you bought the car

ostell I’ve actually though about it, and considering that the vehicle was 5 year old when I bought it, I’m think that there should be some flexibility to BVRLA guidelines and overall age of the vehicle should be taken into account.

But reading through some threads on this forum, I see that Santander Consumer Finance are quite nasty when it comes to VT of the vehicle
