  • Advice regarding an accident

    Good morning,

In February, I was involved in an incident where I was knocked over by a big metal cabinet door while leaving a shop. It was when we had storms and was incredibly windy, the door was not padlocked shut and knocked me flying as I left the shop. Apart from being in my work uniform and being absolutely wet and filthy, I hurt my shoulder and my ankle was hurt in the fall. I have dealt
with this myself and have been offered a settlement sum of £500. Is this an acceptable amount to take? My ankle became incredibly bruised and swollen and still hurts now, it also clicks when i walk up and down the stairs. My doctor requested I took 2 weeks off with a sprained rotator cuff (shoulder) but I couldn’t afford to do that and settled for a doctors note for light duties. Just after a bit of advice. Thank you

I would not yet accept that offer.

You first need to sort out that ankle.
The clicking is possibly a tendon slipping in and out of its grove, and you need to get that sorted sooner rather than later.
It might be possible for a physio to do it by exercise, or you might need it put in a cast for a few weeks, or if it is very severe it could even involve surgery.

Taking an offer for £500 when you might be off work for several weeks is not a good idea!
    Good luck
