  • How to claim from a legal advisor or paralegal

    Hello,

I have a problem with a McKenzie friend who took money from me and did not do the job I asked for. This person wanted me to do something else and did not follow my instruction. He claims he was giving me advice but that is not what I paid for. I paid for specific tasks.

This person does not belong to a group of McKenzie friends but acts independently.

I have sent a formal complaint and received a formal reply.

I asked for my money to be returned as I had to hire another person to do the same job and I paid twice and I have a limited income.

Can you advice what would be the way to claim my money back, do I need to go to the small claims court? Is there another way to file a complaint?

    Thanks

McKenzie Friends are a controversial area of legal support for just this sort of reason. They are unregulated and do not have proper complaints processes.
Your only formal avenue to recover your money would be the small claims court.
