  • CCJ from Drydenfairfax Solicitors

I got a letter out of the blue from this company, alongside a Court Order for a debt I'm not 100% certain I still owe.

First of all, time is of the essence so writing to request any further information, prove-it letters etc cannot be done. I called the office but was told they are not obliged to give me any more information??? Also, they claim to have sent me five letters prior to the CCJ, yet the CCJ was the first and only thing I have actually received. I don't believe that five separate letters could get lost in the post but that's another issue.

Naturally, I don't want this hanging around so I'm thinking to just pay the full amount to avoid any court case. Am I still able to challenge this debt afterwards or is paying it an admission of liability?*

I was told by National Debt line that if I dispute the claim now and find out the I do owe it, I am likely to incur further court costs and still get the CCJ on my credit file.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!*
